Reverion secures €154 million Series B to scale its carbon-negative power plants tenfold – UVC Partners commits €24.5 million

Munich, Germany, September 29, 2026 – Reverion, the Eresing-based developer of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) power plants, has closed a Series B round of €154 million. The round is led by Kembara, Mundi Ventures' European scale-up fund for DeepTech and climate technologies. Allianz, KfW Capital, Aurum Impact and Carbon Equity join as new investors, alongside existing backers including UVC Partners, Extantia, Energy Impact Partners and the European Innovation Council Fund (EIC Fund). Reverion will invest the majority of the capital in a new production site in Germany with 250 megawatts of annual manufacturing capacity and up to 800 new jobs.

Reverion's power plants convert gas into electricity electrochemically, without combustion. In live customer operation, the first units from pre-series production reached a world-record electrical efficiency of 74.2%. That is nearly double the efficiency of conventional generators. The systems capture the CO2 in the fuel stream in pure form, so it can be reused or permanently stored. When they run on renewable natural gas, that CO2 is biogenic and the plants are carbon-negative in operation. The same system also runs in reverse. In electrolysis mode, it converts surplus electricity into storable gases, which gives operators a flexible asset that responds to price signals in both the power and gas markets.

Stephan Herrmann, CEO and co-founder of Reverion, says: "Solar and wind give us clean energy, but only when the weather cooperates. What the world needs is clean power on tap. By closing this Series B, we are laying the foundation for industrial mass production. We are building the dispatchable, carbon-negative engine that allows grids and heavy industry to run 100% clean, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The financing allows us to build an additional production site and to scale the product further, into the megawatt class. That opens up entirely new markets for Reverion."

Demand for Reverion's systems is expanding beyond biogas sites into the technology sector. Data centers face long grid connection delays and growing public pushback over their environmental impact. Reverion runs on local gas infrastructure and delivers continuous, firm power on site. That supply does not depend on the pace of grid expansion or on price volatility in the electricity market.

Seven Reverion power plants are already in regular operation at customer sites, with output per unit upgraded to 500 kW. The commercial project pipeline exceeds $2 billion in revenue potential. The new production site will scale manufacturing capacity tenfold to 250 megawatts per year. At its headquarters in Eresing, the team has recently grown from 100 to more than 200 employees, and up to 800 further positions will be added at the new site. The first international projects are scheduled for delivery later this year.

UVC Partners has backed Reverion since 2023. As part of the round, UVC Partners commits €24.5 million, including a dedicated SPV set up with KfW Capital (as part of the Germany Fund).

Managing Partner of UVC Partners, Johannes von Borries, says: "Most people looked at Reverion and saw a biogas company. What we saw was the world's most efficient carbon-neutral power production, and the best replacement for conventional solutions. This system applies to a wide range of use cases, from biogas to gas power plants to data centers. Reverion outperforms similar players in the market that have reached multi-billion valuations. That shows us clearly that Europe can not only keep pace in DeepTech, but actually take the lead."

Lukas Reckers, Investment Associate at KfW Capital, says: "Biogas retrofits, large-scale utility applications and potentially data centers are attractive use cases for Reverion's power plant technology. With its high efficiency, operational flexibility and reversibility, the technology can address several relevant energy market segments. The team has demonstrated strong execution capabilities, and we look forward to supporting the company in its next phase of scaling."

About Reverion

Reverion builds reversible fuel cell power plants for decentralized energy supply. Founded in 2022, the company is based in Eresing near Munich and employs more than 200 people. Its container-based systems generate electricity from biogas, natural gas or hydrogen and, in electrolysis mode, convert surplus electricity into storable gases. According to the company, its measured electrical efficiency of 74.2 percent makes it the world's most efficient thermal power plant. Carbon-negative operation is possible when biogas is used.
